The G20, or Group of Twenty, is an international forum consisting of 19 individual countries and the European Union. These member nations come together to discuss and coordinate on various economic and financial matters. 

India will convene the G20 Leaders' Summit for the first time in 2023. As a nation committed to democracy and multilateralism, India's presidency will be a significant milestone as it seeks to find practical global solutions for the benefit of humankind.

The G20 members represent around 85% of the global GDP, over 75% of the global trade, and about two-thirds of the world population.

When and where was G20 founded?

The G20 was founded in 1999. Its inaugural meeting took place on December 15-16, 1999, in Berlin, Germany. The G20 was established as a response to the financial crises of the late 1990s and was created to promote international economic cooperation and stability among its member countries. Since then, it has evolved into a prominent forum for discussions on a wide range of global economic issues.

The G20 Summit (2023) in Delhi will be held on September 9 and 10. The G20 Summit is set to be hosted at the state-of-the-art Bharat Mandapam Convention Centre at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi.
